NVIDIA has just launched a compact Generative AI supercomputer called Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit, the successor to the Jetson Orin Nano set to launch in 2022.
Nvidia’s compact Generative AI supercomputer can fit in the palm of your hand. The development kit includes an 8GB Jetson Orin Nano system on a module and a reference board.
In terms of performance, Jetson Orin Nano Super can reach 68 trillion operations per second (TOPS), a 70% increase over the previous generation.
NVIDIA also claims a 1.7x improvement in generative AI inference performance and a 50% increase in bandwidth, reaching 102GB per second. The CPU frequency is now 1.7GHz, a slight improvement over the 1.5GHz of its predecessor.
- Performance : Processes nearly 70 trillion operations per second.
- Power consumption : Operates at 25 watts.
- Compatibility : Runs everything HGX supports, including major language models.
This is a step forward in the development of robotic processors, starting with NVIDIA’s Xavier , with the goal of creating advanced robots for all types of mobility systems. This device reflects the strong development of humanoid robotics technology and is available globally.
NVIDIA also claims the device brings “many improvements” to all popular generative AI models, including large language models (LLMs), visual language models, and visual transformers.
Jetson Orin Nano Super software updates can also improve performance for older versions, which is good news for those who own the original Jetson Orin Nano.
All you need to do is download the software and install the update, but NVIDIA doesn’t provide specifics on how much performance will change on older devices.
With a compact size that can fit in the palm of your hand, Jetson Orin Nano Super is used to develop advanced AI and robotics applications.
With powerful processing capabilities and compatibility with large language models, this device is suitable for:
- Robotics : Powers different types of robots, including:
- Wheeled Robot
- Robots with legs (e.g. two, three or more legs)
- Humanoid Robot
- AI Applications : Run deep learning models, supporting tasks like computer vision, natural language processing, and autonomous navigation.
- Development and Prototyping : A compact and affordable platform for developers, researchers and enthusiasts to experiment with AI and robotics technology.
- Edge computing : Ideal for running AI models in resource-limited environments, such as drones, smart cameras, or IoT devices.
The versatility of Jetson Orin Nano Super makes it a key tool for driving AI-driven innovation and automation.
The Jetson Orin Nano Super Developer Kit is now available from NVIDIA authorized resellers for just $249,
a significant price drop from the previous version’s $499 price point , making it the most affordable product in its class.
